Why did you decide to join the Bike Safe I M board?

I’ve known Ian, Jan, and their family for years and when this idea came to fruition, I couldn’t help but want to be a part of it.

Why is children’s bike safety important to you?

For over 15 years, I worked at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals in Lincoln (with Jan no less!). Each patient has a unique story, and each heals differently. If we can prevent a head injury, minor or severe by helping people understand bike safety then we have done our job!

What value do you believe Bike Safe I M provides to the community?

Education!

In what way(s) do you think our community could improve children’s bike safety initiatives?

Education and financial opportunities to all neighborhoods and socioeconomic levels. There are many families who understand safety but need help finding the finances to purchase a helmet.

What’s your favorite part about being on the Bike Safe I M board?

Watching people get excited about how your brain functions and how you should keep it safe!

What goals do you hope to see Bike Safe I M accomplish in the next 5 years?

Continue to educate in the school systems and their events, along with participating in local events like bike and running races.
